Lien
Searches
If you make payments on a vehicle, boat, motorhome,
even a railway car, the company you make your payment
to may register a lien against your property. When
you finish paying for the item, the lien is removed.
With this in mind, when you are buying a vehicle
you should check to see if there are any liens against
it. You don't want to find that you have become liable
for an unpaid debt on the car you are buying. This
information is not confidential and is available
to the public. We will search the Alberta Municipal
Affairs personal property database for liens and
registered encumbrances on a wide variety of items
including motor vehicles. Search criteria include
vehicle identification numbers, serial numbers, lien
registration numbers, persons and companies.
